I’m heading into this summer with a phrase that has been keeping me grounded about being present and sorting through all the things: ‘I can only do what I can do.’ Often times with multiple children that span across a wide age range I can get stuck in the feeling of not being able to do it all. (Everyone has their own version of this in their own lives). As I’ve grown, I’ve learned that is such an odd expectation to put on myself. Of course I can’t be in two (or three) places at one, what a silly thing to think! All I can do is be present in the moments I am given.
You aren’t doing anything wrong by missing your son’s game because you’re at home with a napping baby. You’re not doing anything wrong by somehow carving out a half hour or so for yourself to get a workout in. You aren’t a bad mom if you missed a camp deadline or can’t keep up with the summer reading chart or so on and so forth. The good lies in that you are simply trying, not in perfection.
You are a human that, along with her family, wants to enjoy her summer too! And all you can do is what can do.

I’m joining you and embracing this mindset. Thank you. 🫶🏻
Amen! We need a sweatshirt/tshirt!
